Q. Why has the port (connector) broken off my pump?

A. The ports on our pumps are manufactured from plastic, and must not be overtightened. The main causes of failure are over-tightening and the use of incorrect fittings.  We strongly recommend using plastic nuts, preferably our straight or angled hose adaptors with integral nut, and do not recommend metal nuts. Whatever the fitting we suggest it should be hand-tightened, and then no more than 1½ turns with a spanner. Maximum torque is 3ft/lbs or Nm 4.05.
